How To Make
I have made this Energy Bar in a very way keeping the ingredients as well as the method easy and simple. I added oats, millets, nuts and sesame seeds in it and sweetened it with jaggery. It's somewhat like my Til Chikki with Berries but I did not make this Energy Bar brittle like Chikki.
First, I dry roasted everything one by one. Its better to roast each one of these separately as some get roasted fast whereas some take more time.
Also, I used mixed millets. I used 6 types of millets, namely Barnyard Millet, Brown top Millet, Kodo Millet, Little Millet, Foxtail Millet and Ragi. But you can very well make this with just one or two or more than 5 millets also. Basically, use whatever millets you have.
After roasting each of the ingredients, in the same skillet, I added jaggery powder along with 2 tablespoon water and let it boil for 2 to 3 minutes. After that, I added peanut butter to it. I used it as it was lying in my refrigerator. You can use peanut butter or any other butter or simply ghee. If you want to make it vegan, then add coconut oil instead of regular butter or ghee.
Once peanut butter got mixed up nicely with the melted jaggery, I added the dry mixture. Tossed everything for few seconds till everything got together and then laid it in a greased tray. It sets very quickly, in just half an hour or so. And once set, your Millet Bar is ready.

Step By Step Recipe
- Dry roast oats for 3 to 4 minutes till they turn golden brown.
Tip: Be careful while roasting as they tend to burn very fast. For this, keep stirring on medium flame. Once golden brown, immediately take them out in a bowl.
- Similarly, dry roast millets for 3 to 4 minutes on medium flame only. It's difficult to make out by the colour, so either taste a few to check if they have become crunchy or just roast for 4 minutes.
- Next, roast nuts and sesame seeds. I used almonds and peanuts only. You can use without roasting also but definitely roasting makes them crunchy and augments the flavour to a great extent. I will recommend you to use peanuts for sure as they give very nice taste to the energy Bar.
- Chop the roasted nuts finely.
- Grease a tray and keep it aside.
- Take jaggery powder in the same wok, add water and let it dissolve fully. Once dissolved, boil it for a minute or so. Throughout the process, keep stirring and do not leave it unattended as it tends to burn very fast.
- Add peanut butter and give one more boil.
Tip: Replace peanut butter with any other butter of your choice. Or, use coconut oil, if making it vegan.
- Add the roasted mix.
- Toss everything for 30 to 40 seconds till everything gets together and leaves sides. I added some Jowar Popcorns too, as I had handy that day. But these are optional.
- Put this mixture on the greased plate and spread it with the back of the spatula.
- Leave it on the kitchen counter for half an hour or till sets completely.
- Cut into desired shapes.
- Store in an airtight container.
- You may wrap it individually in butter paper too.
- Serve with love.
