Easy Tiramisu At My Place

Tiramisu, the name itself sets juices rolling in the mouth. Isn't it? And if I say with this recipe you can make Tiramisu in a glass, and that too in the comfort of your kitchen with easily available ingredients then?

Tiramisu is one dessert which is loved by all of us. And when I tried this mild version of Tiramisu then it was a sheer delight. I tried this recipe in an easy way with the ingredients easily available. The flavour of coffee in silky smooth creamy filling is soothing for any coffee lover.

What is Tiramisu?

For me, a delectable dessert with a tinge of coffee which I can have any time. Yes, that's true, being a true lover of desserts, that too, more of western desserts, I love Mousse, Souffle, CHEESECAKE, Tiramisu, and all such desserts. Believe it or not, but whenever I go overseas, then being a picky eater, I survive on shakes and desserts only. That was my weird (but sweet, I think) definition of Tiramisu. Let's see what exactly it means.

Tiramisu is a coffee flavoured Italian dessert. (Again Italian! Pasta, Cheesecake, Pizza, etc, etc). It is made of ladyfingers dipped in coffee and liquor, layered with a mixture of eggs, sugar and mascarpone cheese and finally flavoured with cocoa powder.

Sounds simple? But if we don't want to use liquor and eggs?

Besides this, the two important things that are required for making Tiramisu are ladyfinger biscuits (sponge cake biscuits) and mascarpone cheese. Now, frankly, both these ingredients are not easily available in Indian markets. We do get these but definitely not in the neighbourhood market at least. Fetching these items is a task and every time you neither have means nor mood to take so much of pains. So? Does this mean that we can't make Tiramisu?

You can use sponge cake instead of ladyfingers. And mascarpone cheese (I love pronouncing it again and again) is easy to make but time-consuming.

Mascarpone Cheese is made by curdling heavy cream and then letting it sit in the strainer overnight so that all the whey drips out.

Easy Recipe Of Eggless Tiramisu

It is because of this, that this recipe has been worked out with easy as well as healthy ingredients and some replacements have been made. Agreed, that it does affect the actual taste of Tiramisu but believe me, this tastes too good and the best thing is that it is alcohol-free.

Also, this is an easy, quick and kids friendly version of Tiramisu. It is made with easily available ingredients and you can quickly set just 2 or 3 glasses. Then leave everything to the refrigerator for 6 to 8 hours and you enjoy and do whatever you wish to.

Now, in this recipe of Tiramisu, there are neither eggs nor alcohol. Even more, the ladyfingers or the sponge cake fingers have been replaced by Oreo biscuits. We are using a mix of hung curd and cottage cheese in place of mascarpone cheese. Huh...so many replacements!!!

Why Tiramisu In A Glass?

  • First of all, you can hand it over as it is without bothering to serve slices/pieces.
  • And secondly, you can put up as much quantity as you want. If making for a get together then making in a dish makes sense but for just 2 or 3 servings, I find the glass setting best. Hope you agree with me.

How to make Tiramisu?

To make Tiramisu, I made a filling using homemade cream cheese and whipped cream. Cream cheese was made by mixing cottage cheese and hung curd. The base was laid with Oreo biscuits by dipping them in a coffee concoction. And then Oreo biscuits and filling were layered alternatively in a glass. And then finally, the top was garnished with cocoa powder. Isn't it easy and kids friendly too?

Neither eggs nor alcohol is used in this easy recipe of Tiramisu.
